Kausani, Bageshwar, Uttarakhand | 4–6 Dec 2025
Kausani’s December 2025 tourism programme was more than a resort presentation. Over 4–6 December, ADTOI’s Uttarakhand chapter and local hospitality partners used destination experiences, meetings and a clean-tourism walkathon to introduce the region to a wider domestic trade audience. President Ved Khanna attended the programme, according to the association’s official magazine, alongside national colleagues.
Three days built around a destination, not a ballroom
The programme began with an evening networking event at SpellMount Resort. On the following day, the “Walk for Kausani” walkathon promoted a clean-and-green tourism message before the main Connect Kausani discussions at Suman Royal Resort. The programme included destination presentations, public–private dialogue and a memorandum of understanding between ADTOI and the Kausani Hotel Association.
A cultural evening at Chevron Eco Lodge highlighted Kumaoni hospitality, while the closing chapter meeting at Pratiksha Himalayan Retreat looked ahead to coordination and tourism growth strategies. The association’s account places Khanna alongside Vice President Ashish Sehgal and other national office-bearers.
The December programme was carefully distributed across multiple properties, rather than using a single convention hall. Each stop exposed delegates to a different aspect of Kausani’s hospitality offer: networking, destination interpretation, culture and a meeting of the state chapter. That format matters because buyers remember a place more accurately when they have experienced its settings, distances and suppliers themselves.
The “Walk for Kausani” element turned responsible tourism into a visible activity. Its promise was not an abstract green label but a reminder that cleanliness, community participation and a healthy local environment are part of the tourism product. The memorandum with the Kausani Hotel Association gave the programme an institutional follow-through that a one-off promotional visit might otherwise lack.
Khanna’s role in the Kumaon destination programme
What distinguished this programme was its itinerary-level approach. A destination cannot simply request more tourists; it must show buyers the experience, operating standards, cultural appeal and local partners that make longer stays feasible. The clean-tourism walkathon was especially relevant in a Himalayan region where future demand cannot be separated from environmental care.
Kausani’s programme demonstrated why familiarisation visits should be designed as experiences rather than inspection checklists. Buyers encountered the hotels, setting, culture and environmental message they would later need to explain to travellers.
From walkathon to tourism partnerships
A family note mentions a Chief Minister meeting on 6 December. That private interaction is not established by the programme account and is not presented here as a verified meeting. The published evidence already supports a meaningful story of Khanna’s participation in a practical Kumaon development initiative.
Industry experience and travel enterprise
Alongside his national association responsibilities, Ved Khanna is identified in ADTOI’s member directory as Managing Director of Tourwala Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., a Delhi-based domestic travel company. His experience in selling real journeys helps explain the commercial questions raised by destination promotion: access, dependable local partners, accurate itineraries and traveller expectations. The work described above was undertaken in his ADTOI capacity; it was not a government appointment or exclusive commercial assignment for Tourwala. Read more about his travel ventures.
