ADTOI took another step in its regional expansion when Haryana’s state chapter was launched at Wyndham Garden in Sonipat during May 2026. National President Ved Khanna welcomed the gathering and highlighted the role an organised network of domestic tour operators could play in developing the state’s travel products. The chapter became the association’s seventeenth state unit.

The tourism opportunity immediately beyond Delhi NCR

Haryana is often understood through highways, industrial centres and proximity to the national capital. Its tourism offering is broader: heritage places, rural experiences, spiritual routes, golf venues, cultural events and short-break products that can appeal to residents of northern India.

The launch involved ADTOI Vice President Ashish Sehgal and local trade leadership, including Gulshan Banga. A state chapter can help local suppliers articulate what visitors can do, where they can stay and what makes a trip different from a simple day outing.

A Sonipat launch has an interesting geographical advantage. Haryana lies close to an enormous domestic short-break market in Delhi NCR, but physical proximity does not guarantee that travellers know its diverse attractions. A state chapter can help convert existing drive-by traffic into curated weekend, heritage, rural, sports and spiritual products.

Khanna’s work at the inauguration should therefore be framed as a national association activity—mobilising members and local partners—not as evidence of a private company’s exclusive travel contracts.

Ved Khanna and a new regional tourism platform

For Khanna, the recorded role was to welcome and represent the national association at the new chapter. The event demonstrates continued territorial growth during his presidency. It does not establish that Tourwala opened the chapter or secured an exclusive commercial arrangement.

Haryana’s close proximity to Delhi NCR makes it an interesting market for short breaks, yet a state chapter can also develop more specialist products that challenge one-dimensional visitor assumptions.

Beyond Delhi’s familiar short-break circuits

Industry experience and travel enterprise

Alongside his national association responsibilities, Ved Khanna is identified in ADTOI’s member directory as Managing Director of Tourwala Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., a Delhi-based domestic travel company. His experience in selling real journeys helps explain the commercial questions raised by destination promotion: access, dependable local partners, accurate itineraries and traveller expectations. The work described above was undertaken in his ADTOI capacity; it was not a government appointment or exclusive commercial assignment for Tourwala. Read more about his travel ventures.
